ABOUT US

HOPE Cooking Class and Cafe is a space where learning leads to empowerment, where individuals gain vocational skills, where meals sparks connection and where every dish is seasoned with purpose.

The name HOPE comes from a promise made in 2019 to Jetsun Pema la, the beloved Ama la (Mother) of the Tibetan Children’s Village. After leading bakery workshops and cooking classes in Mcloed Ganj, Dharamshala and at Selakui ITI Vocational School, Chef Lobsang Tsetan Barshee made a heartful vow:

“When I retire, I’ll return and open a cooking school for TCV”

That moment stayed in his heart. In spring 2024, he returned to keep that promise. When he asked Ama Jetsun Pema la for support. She offered Home number 40. At its entrance now stands a marble plaque with just one word “HOPE” and how our school got its name
